The Place where fell the real love
From Roberto Rossellini to Alessandro Siani, all the directors who fell in love with Amalfi and its surroundings.
The charm of the Amalfi Coast is such that it has inspired dozens of directors and screenwriters, who have brought all its magic to film and screens. The only thing that these films have not been able to make the viewer try are the scents of the coast.
Roberto Rossellini loved the Amalfi Coast to the point of choosing as a backdrop for several of his films: in 1946 “ Paisà ”, with Federico Fellini and Anna Magnani, at the convent of San Domenico; two years later he is in Maiori, Atrani and Amalfi for “ Il miracolo ”, again with Anna Magnani. In 1953 “ Viaggio in Italia ”, starring Ingrid Bergman , was shot again in Maiori.
Also in 1953 Humphrey Bogart and Gina Lollobrigida tour in Ravello "The treasure of Africa ”, where you can admire Villa Rufolo and Villa Cimbrone.
Perfect location for movies
In 1955 the city of Sorrento became the location of the film “Pane amore e fantasia” directed by Dino Risi and starring Sofia Loren and Vittorio De Sica.
A film that has meant a lot for Italian cinema and for the Sorrento Peninsula, with the main scenes shot in Marina Grande.
Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie fell in love on the set of “Mr and Mrs Smith”, a 2005 action movie also shot in Amalfi and Ravello. One of the sets was the panoramic terrace of the Hotel Santa Caterina.
Finally, in the latest film by the Neapolitan comedian Alessandro Siani, the comedy " We accept miracles", from 2015, several scenes were shot between Ravello, Atrani, Furore and Conca dei Marini.
